FutureHeights seeks to promote a vibrant and sustainable future for Cleveland Heights through innovative ideas and civic engagement. Our programs, which include HeightsShops and the Heights Observer, address areas that are important to the future vitality of the Heights: community-based support for our neighborhood-serving business districts, neighborhood beautification, and preserving civic vitality.
FutureHeights creates opportunities for citizen participation and dialogue, educates people about the value of meaningful community involvement in planning for the city's future, fosters strong partnerships among residents and civic groups, and promotes Cleveland Heights as a charming, interesting, and neighborly place to live. The 'community-serving business district' remains an important economic base of Cleveland Heights’ unique neighborhoods. By working with local community groups, citizens and business owners, through the HeightsShops Program, FutureHeights works to create a climate where small business can flourish and contribute more fully to the strength of the local economy.
HeightsShops consists of a “Buy Local” education campaign, the Best of Cleveland Heights Awards, gift certificates and the I Buy NEO community card. The Heights Observer, a print and online newspaper, serves Cleveland Heights and University Heights. Articles are written and edited by citizen journalists. 10,000 copies are distributed monthly through Heights businesses.
